This grand cascade hurls water from about 40 meters (130 feet) above into the pool in front of you.
The power of Los Chorros waterfalls are so forceful that a misty breeze hits you right in the face when you approach. Normally a short hike along the riverbed brings you to Catarata Prendas, a similar sized fall, but the water level was too high when we visited to pass safely. The park also serves as an important drinking water source for nearby towns like Atenas, a valuable natural resource for the community and is the closest waterfall from San Jose on our list.
Alajuela – La Paz Waterfalls
Located just an hour and a half outside San Jose, the La Paz Waterfall Gardens Nature Park is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in Costa Rican waterfalls. This park has a total of five waterfalls on their property, each one distinct and beautiful in its own way. Don’t overlook the “White Magic” waterfall, a mesmerizing and incredible waterfall you will ever see.
